Image resolution in photoshop

Resolution in digital imagery refers to pixels per inch (ppi) or density, similar to how many sqaure feet a particular room space in house might have. Currently computer displays are limited to range of 72 to 96 ppi. For the web, 72 ppi is standard. Increasing the density is practical only for images intended for print and results in large file sizes which in result for longer download file.

In some cases we are asked for the fixed pixel photos like 300 by 350 and when we use photoshop such adjustment is very easy. Can you suggest me some other application to be used for those who have no idea of photoshop?

In adobe Photoshop the absolute resolutions should be 72.it is the scientific value in the Photoshop.The image of Photoshop is save as the jpeg format due to its absolute resolutions.
