3rd Generation Moving Average (Least possible lag)

      Hi,

I just stumpled upon an interesting recent scientific publication of Dr. M. Dürschner (2011) and think this may be of interest for many traders. Dürschner presented a novel type of Moving average: the 3rd Generation Moving Average. His work gave a mathematical prove that 3rd. Generation MAs have the least theoretically possible lag and demonstrated it using a toy expert advisor system (which had quite impression results by the way).

For interested ones, the 3rd Generation Moving Average can downloaded for free now.

Google for "3rd Generation Moving Averages" :-)

At the web page from scientific-trading you can also find the theoretical paper which was awarded by the German representation of the IFTA (International Federation of technical Analysts).

      With Best Regards
      Numa

Re: 3rd Generation Moving Average (Least possible lag)

I have always loved the moving averages and I use the in my trading system for trend determination particularly SMA 200. With this new type of moving average, I will be see what improvement was amde and see if it will fit into my trading system. The indicator looks promising.

I came across this indicator sometime last year and I though it was just a branded form of the normal moving averages. Getting the facts about the thread starter would certainly make me take a second look. Is there really any unique feature really?

Re: 3rd Generation Moving Average (Least possible lag)

I have read about this indicator from many free forex indicator websites and I keep wondering what ways it will be different from the traditional moving averages. I'll keep a close eye on this thread if I can get more information about it.
