      Online vs Offline

      Hello,

I recently had a conversation with an avid online poker player. As a joke I told him you really don't have poker skills if you're only playing online. He reacted by saying "online or in a location at a poker table is the same game"
Well.. I believe that when you play at a poker table you get a feel for your opponents, read their moves, interpret their betting and so on.
So tell me guys what's your opinion - Online poker is the same as playing at a table somewhere ?

I think the feeling is not the same. You're right that you can feel the aura, meaning how strong or not your opponent is.

Both are good online and offline. But i think online is better than offline because you can play any time and anywhere.

The problem playing online poker is the algorithms involved. Not that of the players. But those of the house. Who can say for sure that the website is not biased towards players who deposit more money?

I have to agree with you, playing in person you definitely can read a person sitting across from the table much easier than someone playing online against you, just having the person there and scrutinizing them can sometimes give you the read you need .

playing online poker is also interesting and fun but offline or real playing at the table is verry different, it gives pleasure of gambling which cannot be explained in words.

      Re: Online vs Offline

I know many who play online because they never have time or whatever, to arrange a meeting. Of course in online "mode" you win/give your money to others...I prefer offline to online, and both

      Re: Online vs Offline

Yes online poker is almost same.
The only difference is that you can't read your opponent face.
The bluff by the opponent is similar.
Since you can't fully rely on expressions it matters less.
So, yes it's almost like real poker.

Yes, I have got a same opinion as yours. While playing poker at poker table it gives you really different feel. It is more interesting when you get chance to see the reaction of your opponent. But still I like both the poker, online or offline.

      Re: Online vs Offline

On online poker you can play more tables at one time, see statistics and atc, it's more automatic game. On Offline (real) poker you need to count, see and think on your own.
