Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
If you want to earn via financial market than you need to keep one thing in mind and its not to get panic by the short term market movements. Keep yourself cool and park your money for the long term only. This is the only way by which you end up gaining money.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
stock trading and stock long-term investing are quite different to each other. It is true that when you trade your stocks for a short-term period you will need to know how to play games in the stock market. I am a financial management major and I have learned about investment from one of my major subjects. Stocks are interesting in a way that you will be put your money to the most stable company.
I have known stable companies in the Philippines, if you reside in the Philippines, what other company do you know that is profitable? Any answer will be a great help!

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I read an articles that you will lose more on stock trading and you will surely make more money on investing and for retiring needs, investing is advisable. On the articles, it says also that 90% are losing on stocks but that's on trading not investing. On this, Ive chose to invest and not to trade. Here in Philippines, we can invest on a small amount and for now, Im investing to that Company and hope that I will make more money and for my retirement, I will use that money.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
That's true. Investing in long-term may reduce risk rather than trading. Have you invest your money in one of the stable company? What company do you invest? Do you have any mentor? I am really planning to invest too in the stock long-term investment. I think the minimum is 5,000 per month but it is depending on the minimum shares and per share of the company you're investing to. They say that in order to increase your earnings in the future you have to invest regularly.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I venture into the stock market a couple of years ago and all i have today is regret. I lost heavily during the period the market took a downturn in my country (Nigeria) and since then, i have not cared to know what happening in the stock market. This is not to say that investing in stock is a bad choice. Its a profitable business but i guess its not for me.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I think you're investing on the wrong company. Another thing you should know about the company you're investing too. The one that has stable financial position and its performance. But how long did you put your investment into it? Someone told me that when your investing into stock market in a long-term position you should have a mentor who will guide you to your way of success in investing. At least you try to invest.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
you must know that stock trading is not a gambling.seminars and trainings will teach you the basic form and attitude to trade.playing a game is not advisable when you dont have knowledge or plan to win your battle.most stock traders dont consider what's the companies portfolio , they most likely look on the pattern on chart (when you apply for online trading, citiseconline trading is one of the site that online traders uses residing in philippines they have also built-in charting where you can see the philippines stocks name list) for the heads up, you can try BDO as far as i know this bank is starting to grow faster than any other bank listed before them. i tried to invest for as little as 48 pesos and sell it for 68 pesos
. i dont have too much money to invest but i tried their 5000 initial investment (i bought 48php x 100 boardlot = 4800) (i sell 68php x 100boardlot = 6800) so you can do the math. its little but i suggest since your a student and this is your parents hard earn money must learn the basic technique and the rest will follow

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
if you had experienced stock trading and losses lots of your money, this is might call gambling. trading is not a simple mode of investment when you just heard that the company is doing good and instantly traded turn outs will be your financial downgrade. but if you make a plan and knows the techniques before trading, when the economy was in a bad situation a stock trader with good stock analyzation was more agressive because it was a good chance to take advantage for a lower price of stock of big companies offering to the public.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I think stock trading is not a gambling. There's no illegal when trading stocks. It's what you called investing and not gambling. To Luna_Liq, I agree with you. Citiseconline is the best broker to invest to. But you can also invest somewhere which place that have a stock broker. Here in Davao it has ABC Stock Broker. And thanks for your information about Citiseconline about their charts. But, I'm not really planning into stock trading but more on long-term investing about 8 years of investment.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I think, it will be better to exchange in both short and long-term stock trading. There are times when a trader has to do short-term trading, especially when the situation warrants it. But almost always, traders who earn a lot in stocks are into long-term trading.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
Yeah, investing in stock market is not a gambling. It's a pure investment. It's not like what casino did when you really lose lots of money. Sometimes, when you're going to invest your money, you should be aware also that you need to face the risks and that risks is the lose. So, I think it's better to have a mentor when you are going to invest in this kind of investment. You need guidance from those who invest in stock market those who know how to play with the stocks.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
Well, in a way, there is some factor that makes stock trading gambling. This trade involves analysis and not all analysis are 100% accurate. And if you are not 100% sure that a trade will give you profit but you still went with it, there is some semblance of gambling here, although, very little.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
There was this one Filipino Author whose name is Bo Sanchez. He wrote a book titled " My Maid Invested in Stock Market". It was the author who clearly explained how the stock market works in a very simple way and it was him who says the Difference between Stock Trading and Stock Investing. He encouraged his maids and also the reader of the book to invest in the stock market as their retirement fund. I'm also thinking of investing in the stock market as a long term investment that is good for 5-10 years.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
I don't think short term thinking is good in current economy condition. however some users are doing that for quite some time now. i don't know if it is going to help most of the folks. but considering the long term plans and stuff it is better to have long term investment.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
Investing for short term, or investing for long term or even investing for the medium term depends on your investment motive, if it is for capital gains, you can invest for short term, but if is for bonus issues, dividends and capital appreciation, you may go for long term.

Re: Stock Trading or Stock Long-Term Investing?
yes Investing in stock for long term always bring profit, trading stock for short term(investment) is some how risky from my own opinion, unles you are investing for for capital gain then go for short term but for dividends and capital rises its advisable to go for long term.
