Google URL shortener

I was looking for a way to shorten my URL and then I found out that Google has its own URL shortener. Very useful for affiliate marketers who are using twitter. Here is the link http://goo.gl/

Wow i don't know that google also have their own URL shortener. I think this feature of google will be very useful to those people that need to shortened their url for some purposes. I also want to add that this will be used by many people because google is very popular and this will be their advantage.

I managed to see their URL shortner in action. It's not impressive and what more ? it is public. I mean what could be the sane reason google put that into public mode ? i mean are they trying to see what we're looking or what type of links we're shortening ? If that is the case then google has privacy issues i guess.

Actually I do not care if it is public or not, as long as it makes my links shorter very easily so that I can use it to post long URL's in twitter and other social bookmarking sites. By the way ryuken, I want to know what's the difference between public and private URL shorteners.

Private URL shortners are not open to anyone for analysis. Most of the bit.ly URLs are private and only you can see the stats and other stuff. But in case of google all the data is public and anyone can see the data. They made it open to avoid referral stuff or abuse of their service. So if you don't care then good luck with them till they find out your referral links stuff and it ends up getting deleted.

I believe it was more safer to use google than other URL shortening site which sometimes resulted to banning your account. Maybe due to the popularity of google they might not even thought that you will use it for some business purposes.

I prefer Google to URL. I Dont like it anywhere so I go for Google and that is my choice. Google has help in many ways so i can abandon Google to what i know understand at all.

Wow i did not know about this before i opened this thread. I did not know google has their own url shortener but does this pay like other url shorteners on the web like adf.ly or any other. If this is paying this is good to use.

I have been using goo.gl as my favourite url shortener for a quite long time.Its safe if you use google as shortener,plus it shows no ads unlike adf.ly.Shorteners like adf.ly which show ads tend to drive people away as they dont want to see ads for accessing the link so i use goo.gl

There are some sites that I know can shorten url, but this is the first time I heard about this. I don't think I need this often to use, unless there are some site that I want to memorized easily so I change their names. Thanks anyway for this info.

This is also a good option to shorten your links especially on twitter or any other social networking where you can share links on photos , profile etc. There's no doubt that this product of google is also another useful tool online.

No we cannot earn money by using the google shortener goo.gl as it ad free.The reason I use it is its extremely fast and with no ads it doesn't drive away your visitors.Also it seldom deletes your shortened links like adf.ly does or even bit.ly does.So i use goo.gl pretty often.

Hmm, on that case then it would be great to use, because of the ads we mostly encounter on adf.ly it takes even a bit of our time, (well, at least we're making someone earn) but anyways, this is good mostly when there are lots of site that you always want to go straight within the exact field and location on the site.

well actually i was know about this shortener from google..but i think that isn't too much usefull because many people will use another shortener url which able to earn money $_$ but with this google shortener we not earn anything right?

I guess this features of Google don't make the users earn when using it, like what sniperz said

it's just helping users to shorten the url address of some website so it could be easy to remember and to lessen the time on typing it on the url.

this is the first time i heard about google url shortener google always after gain if they spot a door google open a window near that door and star it own journey of gain and after short time that window became bigger than the first door

I think so, I just knew it recently after this thread was posted, I'm using dot.tk if I want to change URL of some site so I can easily remember what would that be if I go on the address, renaming it is fun, but still, I'll find times to try this one, cause I never used it before.

Google shortner is not famous because it makes you data public. Who wants to make their URLs public ? :P i don't. So i'm sticking with bit.ly for now. Also they do haev some good stats like bit.ly so not that they're too bad. It's just that theyre making the data public and for the viewing. So that is the reason URL shortner is bad.
