Facebook messenger vs yahoo messenger

Which Facebook Messenger are you talking about? I only know about a phone application called Facebook Messenger that allows us to send messages on Facebook. It is basically the mini portable version of our Inbox in Facebook. If that is what you are talking about, then I think you cannot compare it to Yahoo Messenger which is a full-fledged messenger with many features, like video chat, voice chat, conference, chat rooms, file transfer, etc. Or is there other Facebook Messenger I do not know about?

Well this is my first time of hearing of the facebook messenger and i guess it will be very interesting to have that one around on facebook as well,But then comparing it to yahoo messenger,if we start with using the facebook status in the line social networking sites,as facebook has been on the top and now had more populations to other social networking sites,i think facebook will actually take over them.

I haven't tried that but looks like it was just an application extension of the facebook's online chat where you can connect with your friends in facebook even in mobile phone.. You just need to download and install this application..

oh! That was the facebook messenger that he is talking about? Well its an application that facebook has updated for our use,like some times when we want to login to our facebook we get the pop up and then asking us if we want to download and install.Its really a nice application we have there,on mobile its better than yahoo messenger in my own opinion.

Facebook Messenger is the one that I uses most of the time. It's great because most of my friends has Facebook account and also we can talk to each other using facebook messenger.

i don't think that facebook messenger can overtake yahoo messenger,i believe that the two of the messengers will be able to work at the same time with not much competitions as facebook messenger is unique on its own comparing to yahoo messenger.So there won't be any chalanges between the two.

Yeah! your right but I like facebook messenger than yahoo massenger because my facebook is open everyday because I can lots of thing with It, but thank goodness they included a messenger.

Yeah we can see lots of our friends on facebook and the facebook messenger as well.The both are very much able to work hand in hand. We can get our phone contacts on our Facebook messenger and Yahoo we can chat with our facebook friends on it as well,which there won't be competitions as much between the two of the social sites.

you can just google it for the facebook messenger and then you can download and use it. i think you have use the yahoo messenger and after you download and install the FB messenger it will appear as yahoo messenger appear in the right side of the desktop. Most of my friends have use the FB messenger and its not for the mobile its for the PC or the laptops

It only works for Windows 7, though. Does it work smoothly or we are often logged out? Because I use a third party software called Miranda IM to login to Facebook chat and other messengers like Yahoo Messenger, but I often got logged out from Facebook chat. But only from Facebook chat, the other messengers work fine. So, I think the problem is on Facebook's end.

oh! Its just works for window 7 on PC,well the facebook Video call is really a fun place to be as we can see our friends while chatting with them,and it keeps us real to each other or our counterpart.

It says there in the FAQ that this messenger does not support video call yet. It does not even support group chat. It seems to have some kind of mini feeds, though, where we can get notifications and updates. But it says if we click on messages, notifications and such, we will be directed to our browsers and if we are not logged in, we need to log in to view them. I think it would be great if we can view them right on that messenger or at least have an option to automatically log in to Facebook on our browsers to view them, pretty much like the option to automatically open our mails when we click on the new mail icon on Yahoo Messenger.

i know that having chat feature in facebook is good, but still, it cannot compare to yahoo messenger.
with YM we can buzz our friends, invite them to conference and also use webcam.
facebook don't have this feature

i prefer using facebook messenger than yahoo messenger because yahoo messenger is not mature compare to facebook messenger, secondly my friends in facebook are much than my yahoo friends.

It is true that we cannot buzz our friends on Facebook Messenger now, but we do have some kind of conference chat on Facebook, ie. talking with more than one friend. We can already do that on Facebook Messenger for mobile, maybe they will implement it soon on the Windows version.

You have got to be kidding me if you say Yahoo Messenger is not "mature" compare to Facebook Messenger Yahoo Messenger is a full-on messenger since ages ago!

@f2launch- he/she may want to tell that yahoo is not that much in use as the Facebook. This Facebook messenger is about the PC , have you use the yahoo messenger its like that if we install then its already on the desktop we dont have to log in like typing Facebook in the browser . It will be already waiting for you when you turn on the PC or laptops

Being mature an being much in use are two different things. Yahoo Messenger is a developed messenger, while Facebook Messenger is still in a developing phase. Many things still need to be added.

I have been using Yahoo Messenger for years and I know about the feature you were talking about, but we can change the settings on Preferences. I personally do not use it because my computer has low RAM. If I let everything to load on startup, my computer would be angry at me

To me yahoo messenger is very much matured there is no doubt about that,as we all know that the social sitehas been before facebook for a very long time now and facebook messenger is just coming up of this recent days and still has some things to fix up so as to get up to that test that yahoo messenger has already been,but in terms of population,facebook will gain that so faster with its population.
