Well I think there is no such things as twitter chat . Twitter acts itself as a chat room. But I think twitter should have to introduce this feature. But even if it dont have it it is quite better.

I can see that the reason why Twitter was created is to make communication a simpler one. If you look at facebook and other social-networking sites, it's also intended for communicating with other people, but here in twitter, you will just use it in a simple way. It's a handy tool of sending messages to your friends, etc. So I don't think that there's a need for chatroom here. ANd in fact, it's not considered as a fully social-networking site.

it's a good idea provided that it is separated from the widget box and it should be like the ym or skype that because there\s a possibility that is just going to be a spam chat widget where members will post their own links to promote

i think twitter would not need a chat fearure anymore, it is popular because of its microblogging feature. Second if we add a chat feature in twitter then it would not be twitter anymore. Why I love thwitter the way it is? It is because you can tweet your thoughts every minute and leave it. It is like a public diary and compared to chatthis is better because in chat we have to answer to those we chat with, with twitter we dont.

well, i think adding a chatting boz is not good. Because in twitteer, Their main purpose is to let celebrity idols or any persons tweet what they feels. Its not like facebook. hmm..maybe it depends on the user on how he use the twitter,and who are the people HE is following and following him. But for me,since most of my friends arent in twitter,and mostly of my followers arent really my friends,and celebrities are what i follow most, i dont seE TWItter chatbox as my need in twitter.

In case twitter chat, you should create a tag in twitter and then use the option for the posting tweet. You can easily get more results from the tweeter if you're having 3 or more friends who can easily use that hashtag and then send each tweets. I think this is how the stuff works for the most of us.

That is only @hope7812 point of view @ryuken. For me to gain followers is to first follow someone and ask them to follow you, then if they did not respond that is okay, just try to follow someone. My friends are all there in twitter. I gained followers because my friend followed me and I followed them back. All of the people who followed me, I follow them back even if I do not know them. I do not much into tweet, I retweet though.

That's a good strategy if one doesn't follow back then simply unfollow that person, but that kind of strategy may consume lots of time better if we can used some software or any program that allow us to exchange networks.

I'm with you on this one. I really do look at twitter as "huge chatroom" - I love that about it, being able to share information ( most of the time irrelevant type of information ) fast and out there for everyone to see.
For me adding a chat box would be too distracting. I'm already having trouble keeping up with all the tweets.

Yes indeed, it is a huge chatroom because if you set your account on Public, all of your friends will see what have you been Tweeted, so be careful not adding your boss on Twitter because it will be a big problem if you tweet something about them and they follow you or you follow each other. It does not need a chat. Twitter is good for that setting and 140 characters is very unique.

well twitter lets you send 1 message per second. so it can be used for chatting. you can use the special purpose hashtags and or the direct message for the same. i have seen that some of the members are using the twitter chat that way. it is indeed good featured offer by the twitter team and definitely worth using for.

With reference to the objective upon which twitter has been developed, i think there is no need for chat features although something is better than nothing. But to me it seems that twitter is used just to let your followers know about your status or lets say recent activities. Twitter is simple and quick and up to the point for which it has been used and that is just updating your happenings and let the world know about them and interact over them. Adding of chat feature therefore is not necessary.

Chat would really be much beneficial and I contradict your opinion, when we tweet directly at our homepage we send it to all our followers on twitter, and yet it is not a good option to share something confidential, so for me chat box would be great so we can have some private conversation that would not be traced in the web.

That's true that the chat feature will let other user get closer to other users but there are celebrities too and who don't have time to chat with their fans and that would make them uncomfortable. So it is nice as it is. Not having chat feature is also one of the point that celebrities join it.

Twitter is actually a chat site in itself, although with a limited word count type of chat. If they would plan to add a chatroom service to their site, then they should first lift the 160 per message rule, because chatting but limiting what you want to say ultimately defeats the general purpose of chatting.

I think chat in twitter will be more complicated for users. Twitter is already with tough features. It takes time to be acquainted with twitter in such situation twitter chat is not good. There are lots of chat messengers like yahoo, msn, skype and I don’t think twitter should provide chat facilities. It is a good source of fresh news and people use it for this purpose too.
