Do you know that you don't need to be a degree holder just to be a graphic artist?

thanks to photoshop..

this was based on my own experience..
i was an engineering student back then, but i have to stop because of some financial problems.. then i wonder, how can i have a job if i don't have a degree? it will not be easy to find a job if you don't finish your studies.. i want to earn money so that i can finish my studies.. and then i discovered photoshop. at first, i considered photoshop as a hobby.. then i saw from the newspaper and found out that a company was needing a graphic artist.. i told my employer that im an undergraduate.. but he still gave me the exam.. he told me to create two posters for their clients on the spot..!! and luckily, he hired me.. few weeks later, i asked my employer, "why did you chose me? im an undergraduate". and he told me "i know, when i say im looking for a graphic artist, it means im looking for an artist".

from there on, i started to work as a graphic artist and earn money. i almost forgot that im an engineering undergraduate.

Me too, i first cinsidered photoshop as a hobby. I learned using photoshop from video tutorials from youtube, and now i can earn money for some people requesting for some signature on some forums, btw i'm just 1st year college student this upcomming school opening :)

Well, PhotoShop can be used in many ways and help you get a job in many places, you can use it for photo editing, making graphic resources (Logos) and also buttone etc for web pages... you can also make image templates etc !

Photoshop can also be a source of your income. There are some companies there, online or "offline", that hires professionally-trained people who are really good in Photoshop. You will be asked to do some graphic designs, etc. And I know one friend that was able to earn income just by using his skills in Photoshop. He's asked to create some logos of a particular company, restaurant, business, etc.

photoshop as profession i think it's good too my friend who are good at photoshop already get some nice bucks from photoshop i think she earn about $100 a month, at it's very good for a college student

There are some people who are thinking that being able to learn all techniques and art tips in Photoshop is just easy. But definitely, it's really hard. If you're not really consistent in using Photoshop, then it will take time before you'd be able to learn all concepts here. I really envy those who are good in photoshop. They have lots of benefits.

We all know that photoshop isn't an easy to use software. We need to understand all the uses of buttons and the commands used to enhance and edit graphics and photos. It is too hard for beginners but pursuing to learn the craft will help you a lot and faster.

Nice story my friend, you can encourage some of those who have the talent to show and to be brave on doing such things even with a situation that might block your self in pursuing the things you have to. I'm also a user of Photoshop and I didn't study as a graphic artist at all, I just wanna thanks Google for helping me to find some useful tricks and tutorials to get used to it easily and understandably. I'm doing it now as my part time earnings and as a freelancer.

Wow! Such a great quotes from the well known persons. I can say that imagination and creativity of ideas will come up while you are just practicing, and exploring each tools of photoshop will give you a better technique much more and easy.

For now As am doing Career course in animation, Photoshop was the 1st Software which was taught.
And I also learned that Photoshop is the main software in Making Games, Movies, TV Commercials & lots more...
Therefore if you've the knowledge you can also opt for animation industry jobs too...

ohh.. you're doing animation.. that's nice.. very well my friend.. but the truth is, photoshop is just a basic when it comes in making animation.. photoshop is just a basic step to learn animation but it is also handy in making one.. there are certain applications which best suits your animation needs.. but mostly depends on what kind and what for.. is it for games? for films? or anything? use tools that are made for animation.. like Adobe Flash, MAYA 3D, Animator9, Adobe AfterEffects and etc.. you'll get to know these tools later in your course.. have fun..!!!

Is it really true that we can make animation stuffs here in photoshop? All I know is that Photoshop is only about graphic arts, but not really into animations. It's mainly for editing images, making graphic works, etc. Well maybe we can do some animations in other products of Adobe, but not really with Photoshop at all.

What I know to make an animation is with the use of Photoshop with Imageready, which allows you to create an animation with file extension name " .gif " ,I've tried to used it to make my avatar looks cool and with a flashing movement. :)

Photoshop as a Profession? Maybe we should say Graphic Artist as a Profession with the use of your Photoshop talent. Yes nowadays many people is looking for some skilled Photoshop workers. I think our market need more Graphic Artist nowadays.

I guess that's the best way to called it, but anyways, it still use photoshop, but for me, every time I edit some pictures, creating a logo or an avatar, I didn't stick using only photoshop, there are more applications that I also used to and it helps me more easier editing an image. It's my freelance profession, but I know I'm not that good enough. :)

I can't think of it as full time income or profession because i don't have the clients to take for that. I have to start doing clients via freelancers site. I think that is the only way to start from work at home. SO if you want to make money with photoshop then that seems to be the best option for most of designers.

Well, I consider my self as a freelancer though I have a friend with a computer cafe business which also includes a photo printing. I'm spending some of my times by editing the images of the customers who want to have changes on their look or appearances, and many other things. This could be a great profession if we could just more how to use it.

@joseph12, if you really want to learn how to use this application, better to go to site which is discussing through this, and try to download a tutorial on Youtube or even search it using Google, there are lots of tutorials spread on the net, just search it and you'll find it. :)

As I said my friend, you can search it to Google, all of the information you needed is just on your computer with an internet connection, or you can just simply watch a tutorials on Youtube. It is a great application which can be your profession or a career.

Photoshop is an absolutely amazing program, I first found it when starting to chat online when I was younger, eventually I decided to try it and started messing around with tutorials I found on Google and some online forums that give classes on the program itself, I do not need to sit in a class room and listen to some sort of lecture where a teacher or something is going to tell me something that I already know about the program itself, so whoever wants to sit there and learn graphic design in a classroom they by all means waste your money and sit there listening to things you can find for free online.

You're absolutely right about it my friend, though often times, the teacher that taught us something we want to learn is just repeating what they learned on their teacher too. I can say it is much more upgraded to study using photoshop on the internet and you'll notice that there are lots of exciting techniques you can do. Can save your time and money as well, while you are preparing for your profession.

I'm also using photoshop, especially to design the background of our thesis proposal project. This software really helps me a a lot, actually I'm not that too expert when it comes to photoshop but I have a little knowledge of using it and I always enjoy using it. Thanks to photoshop anyway!

Many IT graduates make this talent as their profession, i know some people that make this as their main source of income, some of them employ their self in odesk and i can say that there are more projects come to them, earnings using this photoshop is really helpful.

Actually even not IT graduates can have the opportunity of making an income regarding photoshop. There are many people here that are knowledgeable in using photoshop. If we are willing to learn and if have a creative side.. we can make photoshop as our business. :)

Photoshop is really important for the Photographer nowadays.. There are so many important point and advantages to work with Photoshop softwares. The core of the purpose is to get the better and nicer result as our client want.

In order us to learn Photoshop, we need some patience and it is important that we are willing to learn. Being creative and imaginative is an advantage also. Actually I'm not too creative person, but when I started to use Photoshop, my creativity enhanced.

Photosop application really helps me on my part time projects and image editing looks easily with the applications. I'm also a graphic artist and I used Photoshop mostly among the rest image and graphics creation sofware.

back then i used to use photoshop just for fun, i liked complex designs created by people from deviant art and minitokyo.net. i started experiments and researches, just to improve my editing skills and somehow it all worked out. Sometimes i take certain editing jobs, like tarpaulin adds and graphic designs, even in the simplest t-shirt designs. editing is quite interesting, it's just that stress really kicks in at times. :(

yes, photoshop has became my profession in 3 years till present. photoshop as a graphic artist helps me a lot, i am thankful that photoshop had invented. maybe if their is no photoshop, i will not be able to finish my project.

I have always enjoyed doing the editings on the photoshop and i must say i have grown to be quite an expert on it. I have my home filled with the photographs hung all over the walls which i have edited using photoshop. I also have edited photos for friends and their families upon their request. And i really enjoy photoshopping the images. You learn the more you use it and thats very true.
