Wolves have confirmed that Kevin Doyle is to be sidelined for between four and eight weeks.
The striker damaged his knee while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, lasting just 17 minutes of a 2-1 win over Macedonia.
Initial fears suggested that he could be out of action for some time, with it quickly established that he had suffered medial ligament damage.
Doyle was sent for further tests upon returning to Molineux on Monday and they have backed up the initial prognosis.
That means the 27-year-old may not figure again this season, with there only eight games of the Premier League season remaining.
